Dear Model # HK-201:
I am truly sorry that I lent you to that guy who broke your mounting mechanism and rendered you useless as a photographic tripod.
We were finishing art school and he wanted to document his work. Even though he said he knew how to use you, I had misgivings. I did not want to seem ungracious in doubting that a young man would know how to use a piece of equipment. I let him borrow you. We were all headed off in different directions after graduation. It was not until after I moved and unpacked that I noticed you were broken.
I thought I could get you fixed but discovered that it was cheaper to buy a new replacement for you. Someone gave me another tripod that was broken in a different place. I thought I could use it for parts and put the two of you together, but you are different models and did not fit. I used your camera mount for the rDog art piece, and I plan to use your stand for another sculpture someday. I do have a new tripod that is much sturdier and more expensive.
Even though I keep you in a box with junk, I want you to that I still think of you often and fondly.
Sincerely,
for TLS
P.S. This apology may seem a long time coming. I kept thinking I could get you repaired.
P.P.S. I hope the new job that I have found for your mount meets with your approval.
